APPLIED SKILLS
Dance Courses
So far during my 3.5 years at Loyola I have taken many dance classes that have helped to curate my lens/mission and have helped me develop into the dancer I am becoming.
These classes include:
Ballet IV (Six Semesters)
Ballet V (One Semester)
Ballet II (One Semester)
Pointe I (Three semesters)
Modern II (Two Semesters)
Jazz II (Half a Semester)
Jazz III (One Semester)
Modern III (Three Semesters)
BALLET
Ballet II, IV and V
Coming from a place where I did ballet once a week this course has been substantial in developing my applied skills at this University. Gaining and expanding on my technique as well as becoming knowledgeable on the vocabulary to succeed in many other aspects. I have really appreciated getting the chance to dive deep into minute details and fighting my way through fixing past tendencies.
MODERN
Modern II and III
I have always enjoyed exploring new techniques and styles of dance but these two classes have been especially interesting for me. Modern II was a class I really enjoyed, getting the chance to learn a new modern technique while also applying it to everyday life and seeing how dance is impacted by all those other factors. Modern III this semester has really pushed me but in an amazing way, I love having the chance in Contemporary to find new ways to move and letting go of the tense ways of other techniques while also gaining so much strength in areas I didn't know it was lacking. On the other side of Modern III in Graham class I have really enjoyed exploring this famous technique that I have never had a chance to do previously and discovering ways in why others create movement and what motivates them to make the body move in such ways.
JAZZ
Jazz II and III
Jazz has always been a favorite style of mine and taking these classes here have been really fun and informative as I have gotten to explore many different styles of Jazz within the genre. These classes have also really challenged me with the rigor and intensity that they possess.
POINTE
Pointe I
Getting the chance to take this class before I got injured last year was really beneficial in my expansion of ballet technique. It really showed me the value of moving in the correct way and making sure to pull up in the right places so it is safe and really informed the way I do ballet on flat as well as on pointe
